The Opening Ceremony of the First Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition Works Exhibition Held in Beijing

On the afternoon of July 10, the opening ceremony of the First Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition Works Exhibition was held, jointly organized by the Organizing Committee of Photo Beijing, Working Committee of Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition and Soong Ching Ling Youth Science & Technology Cultural Exchange Center, under the theme of “Bridging the Friendly Silk Road by Photography”.

 

As pointed out by Mr. Yang Yuanxing, Chairman of China Institute of Artistic Photography, young people are the future of the world. With aspiring and responsible young people, we have a steady stream of powerful force to promote the noble cause of human peace and development. It is expected that we can establish a cultural communication platform for young people alongside the Silk Road through the photographic competitions, and view the world from an appreciating, mutual-learning and sharing point, so as to promote the mutual learning and harmonious co-existence of different civilizations and actively contribute to the building of a community of shared future for the mankind.

 

According to Mr. Chen Aimin, Director of Department of International Relations under China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, China Soong Ching Ling Foundation has been always dedicated to strengthening international friendship and developing teenager undertakings, to carry forward the unfinished cause of Madame Soong Ching Ling. These works have made positive results. In the future, the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and Soong Ching Ling Youth Science & Technology Cultural Exchange Center will further play their own advantages to facilitate the Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition in expanding the platform both intensively and extensively. We would like to invite the teenagers as friendly envoys to make active contribution to transmitting the cultures of various countries worldwide, promoting mutual learning among different civilizations and enhancing people-to-people bonds at home and abroad.

 

Secretary General of FIAP Mr. Ioannis Lykouris expected to further promote the Silk Road spirit, focus on the Belt and Road development, enhance cooperation and photography exchanges among B&R countries, promote cross-boundary integration of diverse cultures and push forward the youth photography education and communication in the world.

 

The First Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition Works Exhibition is the first international though photographic exhibition, dedicatedly curating for teenagers. Exhibits are mainly selected from the winning works of Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition. This is the first international youth photography competition dedicated to the theme of countries along the Silk Road, with over 61,000 participants and receiving 157,988 entries (sets) from 52 countries and regions, including China, Myanmar and Italy. As an important demonstration project for the collaborative innovation of cultural exchange mechanism for the countries alongside the “B&R”, the competition has made useful explorations for the youth cultural exchanges and the people-to-people bond in countries along the “B&R”.
