“Friendship on the Silk Road - Sharing Wonderful Moments” Photo Beijing 2018 Sanlitun Primary School Sub-venue Unveiled

On October 22, the Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition Sub-Exhibition on “Friendship on the Silk Road - Sharing Wonderful Moments”, the opening ceremony of Achievement Exhibition of Universities Participating in Primary School Education Project (i.e. Gaocanxiao Project) between Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and Sanlitun Primary School, also the 1st Silk Road International Youth Photographic Education Development Forum was grandly held at Beijing Saunlitun School, organized by the Organizing Committee of Photo Beijing 2018, hosted by Organizing Committee of Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition, Youth Photography Committee of Silk Road Photographic Organization International Alliance, Beijing Sanlitun Primary School and Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and co-organized by New Media Education Alliance, Chaoyang Teenagers Activity Center and Zhongyi Online Course.

 

The opening ceremony and a series of activities were attended by responsible personnel from related organizations, including Mr. Yang Yuanxing, Executive Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Photo Beijing, Mr. Ioannis Lykouris Secretary General of International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), Mr. Tay Poey Cher, Director of FIAP, Mr. Kyaw Kyaw Winn, Chairman of Myanmar Photographic Association, Mr. John Bunty Turner, Project Manager of Tom Hutchins Group, Mr. Wang Jianqi, Vice Chairman of China Institute of Artistic Photography, Mr. Gan Beilin, Director of “Gaocanxiao” Project Office, Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Mr. Zhan Binghong, VP of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, as well as the representatives of students, teachers and parents from both at home and abroad, including such countries as Austria, Myanmar, Greece and Singapore, as well as such Chinese provinces and cities as Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangxi, Shaanxi, and Hebei.

 

Ms. Yu Yaling, Principal of Beijing Sanlitun Primary School, firstly delivered a speech. Principal You extended a hearty welcome to all guests from all over the world and thanked them for gathering in Beijing. She also expressed her appreciation for the support of the Organizing Committee of Photo Beijing, “Gaocanxiao” Project Office of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and New Media Education Alliance. She expected that the school could have a wide range of photographic communication activities, expedite the international development and contribute to the development of worldwide youth photographic education development through this opportunity.

 

Mr. Yang Yuanxing, Executive Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Photo Beijing and Chairman of the China Institute of Artistic Photography also delivered a speech: As the first school sub-venue selected by Photo Beijing themed on Silk Road Youth Photographic Works Exhibition, Beijing Sanlitun Primary School is an important participant of the First Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition and wins the Best Organizing Award. He expected that Sanlitun Primary School could continuously make its commitment and participate in Photo Beijing from this year onwards, become the long-term partner of Photo Beijing and jointly contribute to youth photographic education and cultural communication. Young people are the future of the world and taking care of them is our bounden duty. Let us establish a new Silk Road for the youth, so as to enhance friendship among Silk Road countries, increase people-to-people bonds and carry forward our friendship from generation to generation!

 

In his speech, Mr. Gan Beilin, Director of “Gaocanxiao” Project Office, Beijing Municipal Education Commission conveyed congratulations on the achievements made by the school in implementing the “Gaocanxiao” Project. Two participating schools established a sound operating mechanism, which would help to continuously promote aesthetic development in primary schools. He expected that the school could continuously provide photography-featured education and serve a wide range of teenagers.

 

Mr. Zhan Binghong, VP of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology also made a speech: The “Gaocanxiao” project achievement exhibition and 1st Silk Road International Youth Photographic Education Development Forum jointly held by the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and Sanlitun Primary School aimed to carefully implement the gist of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, more intensively, fundamentally and effectively push ahead with the “Gaocanxiao” project guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, increase the attainment of faculty and students and develop “Gaocanxiao” project into a specific practice for deepening the reform of Beijing model and Beijing foundation education model. Hopefully, under the joint efforts of various parties, children could improve their art competence, art appreciation standard, creativity, hands-on capacity and aesthetic capacity. Various parties could join hands and continuously contribute to the education development of Beijing!

 

Photo Beijing 2018 Sanlitun Primary School Sub-Exhibition consists of two exhibitions. One is Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition Sub-Exhibition. The displayed exhibits include 100 photographic works selected from schools and institutions across the world and 40 works of calligraphy, painting, handicraft, video and others, with a view to enabling more teenagers to transmit their own culture in different forms of art. The second exhibition is the Gaosanxiao Project Achievement Exhibition between Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and Sanlitun Primary School Project. Nearly 200 works are displayed in diversified art forms, representing the pursuit of students for a beautiful life and inheritance of traditional Chinese culture. Meanwhile, these works recorded the past art stories of teachers and students and witnessed the stable process of implementing “Gaocanxiao” project.

 

The present guests awarded the certificates to student representatives and thanked the teachers for their industrious tutorship and organizations that provided support for this activity.

 

After the end of the Opening Ceremony, the First Silk Road International Adolescent Photography Education Development Forum officially kicked off. The school invited Chinese and international friends who pay attention to the youth development to gather at this children’s photographic school, jointly discussing the role of photography in promoting youth development, promoting the cultural communication among Silk Road countries and building a community of shared future for mankind, so as to open a new chapter of international youth cultural exchanges among Silk Road countries. Mr. Ioannis Lykouris (Greece), Secretary General of FIAP, Ye Kaiji, Head of Science and Technology Department, Children’s Palace, Jingan District, Shanghai City, Liu Jianchang, Curator of Beijing Children’s Photographic School Exhibition Hall, Liu Feng, Zhejiang Ruian Baotian High School, Mr. John Bunty Turner (New Zealand), Project Manager of Tom Hutchins Photo Group and Mr. Chen Dagong, Director of Photography School, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology delivered speeches at the forum successively. Onsite students interacted with speech guests and jointly discussed their understanding of photography. The wonderful speech made by guests enabled us to see the efforts of researchers and educators of youth photographic education and the promising future that they brought to youth photographic education.

 

At the end of the forum, present guests visited the school exhibition hall and photographic gallery. Junior reporters introduced photographic works and the development history of children’s photographic school to the guests.

 

On the morning of the day, Chinese and foreign junior and senior photographers went to Jingshan Park and shot photos themed on “Beijing Culture in My Eye”. At the top of Jingshan Mountain, volunteers introduced the historic cultural relics on the central axis of Beijing and enjoyed the time-honored Beijing history and culture. This activity aims to help the central axis of Beijing to apply for the World Heritage status.

 

In the afternoon, Chinese and foreign students held the First Silk Road Youth Photographic Forum on “Friendship on the Silk Road - Sharing Wonderful Moments”. Students shared their experience of learning the photography and made exchanges on their photographic experience. Student Wang Ziqi and Miao Tongrui from Beijing Sanlitun Primary School presided over the forum. 11 students delivered wonderful speeches respectively, including Cao Yuliang from Zhejiang Gaofan Photographic School, Liu Han from Beijing Sanlitun Primary School, Sebastian from Austria, Huang Chenheng from Fuzhou Quanzhou Nanan Liucheng Primary School, Li Hao from the No. 80 High School, Zin Maw Maw Naing from Myanmar, Dou Qiqi from Guangxi Gexin Road No. 2 Primary School, Cui Kehan from Shaanxi Xi’an Fanjiacun Primary School, Jin Shouyi from Beijing Tiantongyuan School, Wei Zimu and Wang Xu from Beijing Sanlitun Primary School. The participating students freely shared their photographic experience. By telling their own photographic stories, they expressed their best wishes for building one world, one dream, sharing sunshine, rain and dew, forest and ocean, mutual respecting, mutual understanding, mutual inclusion and building a harmonious and beautiful big family! Junior photographers take their cameras to convey their dreams by photos! In 2018, let dreams set sail from Beijing, China.

 

Later, present guests participated in the traditional school activities, including drawing Peking Opera facial makeup, drawing paper umbrellas and writing Chinese calligraphy. Chinese traditional culture attracted the interests of international friends. Under the help of students, guests made their own favorable works.

 

In order to promote the art education, implement the Belt and Road Initiative, promote the cross-boundary integration of diverse cultures and strengthen youth photography education and communication in the world, the Silk Road Photographic Organization International Alliance initiates the Silk Road Youth Photographic Competition, in cooperation with Beijing China Millennium Monument World Art Center, Beijing International Art and Photography Foundation and Shandong International Cultural Exchange Center. As the core section of special activities at Photo Beijing, the competition has received special attention and support from the Organizer of Photo Beijing, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Beijing Municipal Government. As a sub-venue, Beijing Sanlitun Primary School - Children’s Photography School has built a friendship bridge for teenagers of Silk Road countries through visit, interactive activities, hands-on activity, experiencing activities, forum and other diversified activities, enabling students to promote mutual understanding and perception, mutually respect each other’s culture, transmit friendship and jointly build a harmonious and beautiful world.

 

This exhibition is the first large thematic exhibition held at Sanlitun Primary School after the New Media Education Alliance initiated in 2017. The Alliance members from Shanghai, Guangxi, Sichuan, Hebei, Shaanxi and other places participated in this activity. As a children’s photographic school in Beijing, the Sanlitun voluntarily undertakes the mission of promoting youth photographic education, closely links to the national development strategy, and develops teenagers into the builder and owner of the future world at the initial stage of building Belt and Road Initiative. This activity aims to make students learn to view the life and world through their lens, and to interpret and create the true, the good and the beautiful with their camera and frame. This activity has deepened the significance of school photography education and promoted the mutual understanding of education among different countries.

 

The exhibition will be held at Beijing Sanlitun Primary School until October 29.
