  Fusion of Culture and Technology

  More Advanced Appraisal Management System

The international exhibition and photography competition management system specifically developed for this competition is a highlight of this photography competition. In the era of universal photography, various kinds of photography competitions at home and abroad have emerged one after another. However, in the process of event organization, collection, selection of works, and exhibitions, the following problems are quite common: huge workload in collecting works, varied quality of submissions, incomplete information of works, high appraisal cost and time consumption, and repeated communication between event organizers and contestants. To address the problems in selection of current photography competitions, Beijing Gehua Cultural and Creative Industry Center developed, tested and finally successfully launched the international exhibition and photography competition management system, which is based on high and new technologies such as Internet, big data and online payment. The system has been used in the final selection of the Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition for the first time.

The international exhibition and photography competition management system integrates internationally-accepted appraisal methods and sets rounds of appraisal freely. Each round of appraisal starts at the same time and is carried out by means of a time-limited grading system. The judges can gather together for appraisal, or they can conduct remote appraisal, and in latter case, the system background would keep record of every grading operation of judges. This method frees the judges from spatial and geographic restrictions and effectively circumvents the influence of artificial factor and other convergence factors on judges.

The professional, fair and effortless selection is the key to success of the competition. To promote smooth proceeding of this Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition, in combination with internationally-accepted appraisal methods, the international exhibition and photography competition management system adopted the multi-language function to settle language barriers confronting international judges. At the same time, the selection was conducted through multiple rounds of grading, and the system background kept record of all grading operations of judges, so that such data could be extracted for verification at any time when needed.

As the first important activity after SRPOIA was established, the Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition was organized with the mission of mobilizing adolescents from all participating countries, the builders and owners of the future world, to pay attention to and retain these historical moments that seem ordinary today but will be very precious tomorrow by way of photography, which is also the most faithful way of recording, at the initial stage of OBOR construction. In the future, the Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition project will be built into an important platform for cultural exchange between adolescents of “B&R” countries. It will provide opportunities for these young people to learn from each other and exchange ideas, thereby enhancing connectivity of people and pass on friendship among generations. We are looking forward to establishing a new Silk Road for the youth and connecting friendship between Silk Road countries.
