Searching the soul of nature

On March 26, in the 1st exhibition hall of China Millennium Monument, Professor Yu Yuntian shared his experience on scenery photography over the past years with more than 200 spectators and over 1,500 students, and illustrated the theme of Photo Beijing 2017 from the perspective of scenery photography: Photography: Origin and Future

Professor Yu reviewed his photography works over the past years, and introduced his latest works with the theme of the Antarctic and Iceland.

He says: "Scenery photography is an enjoyable course in which photographers cultivate themselves in and interact with the nature." Photographers embark on a journey, where they take photos in exultance, and what's more, the experience, happy or painstaking, outshines the final result.

In more than 20 years, he has left his footmarks almost every corner across the country: magnificent mountains and mighty water, or wasteland and uninhabited deserts. Often, he, alone as he is, drives with his photography equipment and daily necessities, for example, a small tin stove, as well as his favorite album.

He has always immersed himself in mountains and waters, got high-accomplished in music, and kept a record of the places he has set foot on. This is a course in which he enjoys his life and develops in harmony with the nature. Nowadays, the young like the word "travelling". He began to travel in his twenties; up to now, he is still a man travelling on his road.

Professor Yu argues that: Composition calls for developing independent thinking patterns, suffering loneliness, as well devoting oneself wholehearted in the undertaking, thus ensuring a harmonious relationship with the nature and the world. This is why he likes an alone journey for a long distance, and why he likes to hide himself in a place which cannot be found by others.

Travel as far as you can

"Often, I think I am lucky, for my hobby is just my job. I embark on a long journey where taking photos brings about enormous amazement to me. What's more, my experience of sharing woe and weal with friends, surviving all perils and enjoying the glamour of natural spectacles outshines the final result. "
