Image, after multi tempered in the later half of 19th century and 20th century, has achieved popularity and routinization and become a mature information media to be widely used today, meanwhile equaling to other arts like music, dance, and calligraphy as a form of art available to everyone.Photo Beijing 2015 attempts to expand meaning with "images" as a core, to start observation with "century" as a clue, and to conduct discussion from the perspective of "art".


"Photography style watch" forms the history of images."A picture is the heritage of a period of time” “During the 176 years, images have recorded the history, and also formed the developmental history of images.During the time, human’s ways of watching have been constantly changing, view thresholds continually expanding, and visual culture gradually being generated.


Photography makes time decompose and stay as a moment, subtle things become "capitalized", and space transformed; photography has witnessed many human events, whether natural or man-made disasters, and reserved them in the lens; photography makes us alert to the phenomenon that we usually turn a blind eye to normal things, and makes us consciously gaze around in everyday life and more attentively look at people and things, and "helps us find social blind spot" (said by Zhu Dake); photography enhances the level of awareness of human toward nature and society, and at the same time opens human’s attention and tracking towards other life forms on Earth; photography enhances our abilities to observe and to perform during its long journey of development and in the world of visual imagination, which is specialized promotion of human in visual direction; Finally, the photographic lens profoundly change our visual habits and visual threshold, and deeply change our visual psychology.


Image travels through time and space. During the 176 yeas, images have traveled through time and space. Countless images from the past weave their own time and space, as if the glass house set between the reality and the reader; realistic space-time, image space-time and mental space-time transfer into one another, so that people of different ages can realize the dream of traveling and wandering among the past, the present and the future; images are also like a visual river, rolling forward and shouting with each photo in statements, which shows "everything" and "nothing", so readers think about "yes" and "no" and judge between "good" and "evil". Emerging and precipitating, and changing and freezing interacting with each other is the normal state of this river. 


Between the "real space" and "image space", there is a photographer, whose view of space time and way of viewing reality determines how the reality presents in images; between the "image space" and " mental space in reading ", there is an editor, whose structure of knowledge and attitude towards public determines the destiny of images. When transferring among the above three times and spaces, different works have different effects, some attenuating, and some enhancing.


Image carries Dream.During the 176 years, images have carried human’s dream. The birth of photography itself is an outcome pursuit, for thousands of years and in different means, by scientists and artists from numbers of countries on Earth, and the subsequent one hundred and seventy years of technical practice is to make the technology have a wider, farther, clearer view and more accurate, more convenient and cheaper storage, until today we realize digitization and miniaturization to make come true the human’s dream of capturing and transferring images in anywhere and at anytime.We can say that the history of photography is the history of human’s dream in terms of image, through which runs the eternal fire of science and art!


Images in the New Century. The 21st century will be the century of images. In this century, human will use images to do a lot of things that the predecessors could not do. Images can be collected at anytime and in anywhere, and involve all the people; images spread through MicroBlog and WeChat like ripples, reaching the terminal growing geometrically within minutes and seconds; the creation of the images combines the dynamics and statics, and integrates multimedia; daily global image production accounts for billions of pieces; "if there is no picture then there is no truth, but if there are pictures, there is still not necessarily truth” People in the image space and time naturally mingle virtual world and the real world together.


Photo Beijing, under the help of many professionals, creates a world of images to make audience in the image world experience the relationship between reality and art, between the author and others, and between the image and the audience, and then to generate a new image concept, and also to let photographers benefit from the blend of multi cultures and find the next creating direction of their own.All exhibitions in Photo Beijing are in the "field" and all participants are also in the "field"."Presence" shall be the most intense impulse of photographers -- either to go to shoot at the scene and original spot, or to create at the scene of the virtual world, which is an outside representation of the soul, or to reflect oneself and observe the reality between the “fields” of virtual world and real world. The socalled creation has no other way beside this.
