About Photo Beijing 2013

“Photo Beijing 2013” is to be held in the China Millennium Monument of Beijing from October 24 to 30, 2013. This event, themed on “Photography·World in Focus”, will gather accomplished works and ideas from photographers and professionals home and abroad, and meanwhile represents the observations and thoughts of the world nowadays. It is open to the public and is a photography event with landmark significance.

It is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, People’s Republic of China, and Beijing Municipal People’s Government, and organized by China Artistic Photography Society, China Photographers Association, Xinhua News Agency Image Center and Beijing Gehua Cultural Development Group in cooperation withCAFA Art Museum and Contemporary Art Museum of the China Millennium Moment.

“Photo Beijing 2013” is to be unfolded in the main venue of China Millennium Monument and other important cultural centers in Beijing, like 798 Art Zone, Pasture Art Zone, Wangfujing Pedestrian Street and Shangba International AD Park.

“Photo Beijing 2013” mainly consists of more than 40 activities in the four segments, namely, the opening ceremony, series of exhibitions, photography lectures and featured events. There will be the thematic exhibition of “The First Beijing International Photography Biennial Exhibition”, the series of exhibitions on “Images, Times and Impressions” featuring works by master photographers, and the exhibition on “Moments in Beijing” that showcases the culture and spirit of Beijing in the past and at present. The photography lectures on a variety of topics reflect the speakers’ rigorous academic attitude and readiness for communication. In addition, the featured events like the all-people mobile phone photographing and the open photography library corner plan encourage the public to engage in photography and thus promote the development of photographic undertaking.

Photo Beijing 2013 is a significant platform of communication for photographers from around the world, and a showcase of current circumstances and development trends in different countries, regions and nations. On this occasion the photographers and the general public will come to have better mutual understanding, strengthen dialogues and cooperation, discuss the current status and the future prospect of the human society, and seek ways for progress from a developmental perspective.
