THE CHINESE DREAM: PEOPLE'S LIVES AND SOCIAL CHANGES

It is an exhibition about China. All the exhibited photos are from Photo Archives of Xinhua News Agency, some of which are exhibited for the first time.The exhibited photos give a true reflection of the change in people’ livelihood, economy, science & technology, military affair and environmental protection in the social reform since 1909 with the technique of expression of documentary, clearly show the special historical environment in China and factors and endowment of Chinese people, restore the social reform for over one decade, and display the progress of China to realize the dreams.

In July 1963, Shang Yanliu (left) researched calligraphy under the company of his son Shang Chengzuo. Born in 1875, Shang Yanliu was the last member of the Imperial Academy at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the former President of CPC Central Research Institute of Culture and History. His son Shang Chengzuo is a scientist in ancient Chinese characters and the Professor of the Department of Chinese of Zhongshan University. Shot by Huang Yongzhao from Xinhua News Agency.

In December 1985, the photographer took photos of the actors shooting the TV play series A Dream in Red Mansions in Beijing Grand View Garden. A Dream in Red Mansions is the most famous novel in China, which was written by Cao Xueqin in 1750. It has been altered into drama, film and TV play for several times.
